Fiscal depute Robert Weir told Sheriff Gary Aitken that the 45 year old had been reported by members of the public on the afternoon of March 30 this year because he was shouting about God and the Devil and causing a disturbance.

"When the officers went to talk to him, he talked over them, became aggressive by clenching his fists, swore and made a sexual comment." Mr Weir added.

Defending, Natalie Paterson said: "His position is that he was being targeted by the police. He has spent four weeks in custody."

Sheriff Aitken jailed registered sex offender Evans for six months, backdated to April 2 and told him it was because of his record.
