What can we do to address significant challenges businesses face?

You will have seen that SCDI has a new name and going forward we are now known as Prosper.

This change of name reflects the influence and energy of the organisation and demonstrates our crucial role in a rapidly changing socio-economic landscape whilst retaining over 90 years worth of history in connecting businesses, government and civil society in shaping policy and growth.

We've also published the update to our Rural Commission report from 2019.

Post-pandemic, members wanted to ensure that the work of the commission had been impactful but that the policy recommendations were still a high priority for government to deliver.

Housing, transport and development are key recommendations to enable the significant number of opportunities the region is seeing for growth for established and emerging industries and sectors. You can find out more on the report on our website.

Collaboration will continue to be key in addressing the significant challenges we face on each of these recommendations. Both Scottish and UK governments need to ensure that investment, legislation and regulation are fit for unlocking rural development. We need to be agile in our approach and there is no time to spare.

We have captured international attention and we are leading the way on so many fronts and must keep up the positive momentum towards building an economy for all people and places to Prosper.
