Aaron Doran could miss the remainder of the campaign as Inverness Caledonian Thistle looking to avoid the relegation play-off in the final two games of the regular season.

The midfielder was taken off with a knee injury in the 1-0 defeat against Raith Rovers at the Caledonian Stadium last Friday.

The Irishman, who has been at Inverness for 13 years, underwent a scan this week to find out how significant his injury is.

Manager Duncan Ferguson said they are still waiting on medical reports to come in, but he fears that it could be a long term injury.

He said: He twisted his knee, he has had a scan but I have not had the medical report back yet, it will take a couple of days, but it doesn’t look good.

“Against Raith the kid wanted to go back on but I pulled him out.

He added: "Aaron, to be fair, has not played as many games as he'd like, but in the last couple of weeks, he has done really well for me.

"It was a blow for him getting a bad injury so early in the match. He had pushed himself back into the team.

"Bad injuries have, unfortunately, been the story of our season. Aaron looks like another long-termer, but we just need to get over it.”

Inverness have welcomed Sean Mcallister on loan from Everton who has recovered from a thigh injury and replaced Doran in the 1-0 defeat last Friday.

Ferguson is delighted to have Mcallister back in the squad and says he could feature in tomorrow’s clash against Dunfermline.

"It is really good to have Sean back.

"He has been rehabbed well at Everton and that's why we put him straight into the squad against Raith Rovers. He was in such good shape at training. He came on as a sub and did very well.

"Unfortunately, Aaron Doran got a bad injury and Sean had to replace him. He will be in contention again for the weekend.”
