REMI Savage is confident Inverness can beat Morton and hopes a positive result elsewhere will see them end their season tonight and avoid the relegation play-off.

The centre back says the club are just focussing on themselves to ensure they get the result which will give them the best possible chance of avoiding the relegation play-offs on Tuesday night.

Inverness need to better Queen’s Park result against Airdrie on the final day of the regular season to avoid the play-offs, which would see them travel to Montrose for the first leg of the semi final on Tuesday night before the second leg is played at home next Saturday.

The winner will face Alloa Athletic or Hamilton Athletic in the final with the loser confirmed to play in League One next season.

Savage (22) says Inverness are confident they can do their part by winning at the Caledonian Stadium tonight, despite only winning three home matches in the Championship all season.

He said: "Overall, the mood within the squad is good. We're confident we can win on Friday. We just need to concentrate on ourselves, no matter what else happens.

"We know we have the quality in the squad to get the win against Morton and that's what we're going out to do. We know the quality we've got and how we want to play.

"As long as we go in with the right mindset, we can get the win.”

Savage recently returned to action after being ruled out with concussion after being accidentally kicked in the face by teammate Cammy Kerr in the 2-1 win against Arbroath on April 6.

He says that he is fully fit again and determined to help Inverness to victory tonight.

"I'm feeling good. It's not nice to get a kick on the face, but that's football.

"With the concussion protocols, you have to then be out for 12 days minimum, so I was on the sidelines for the Queen's Park game.

"I am back and ready and will try to get the win on Friday.”

Savage arrived during the January transfer window on a permanent deal from Newcastle United.

He says he is enjoying the chance of first team football and wants to make sure Inverness remain in the Championship next season.

"That's why I came here. Inverness is a great club with a good group of players, staff and gaffer.

"I have loved my time here and the league as well. Hopefully we can finish the season on a strong note.

"Hopefully we can click into gear on Friday.

"We will give 100 per cent and have the fans behind us and try to get three points.

"Whatever happens elsewhere happens - that's football.”
