Inverness weightlifters strike gold and bronze at Scottish Open in Dundee

INVERNESS Olympic Weightlifting Club brought home an impressive medal haul when they competed at the Scottish Open in Dundee.

The squad claimed three medals which included one gold and two bronze medals.

Karen Saint won gold in her category and is now ranked number one in Scotland and eighth overall in the UK.

Klaudia Zbikowska and Steve McAllan also impressed as they finished on the podium with bronze medals in their respective categories.

Jordan Bowie and Dawn Chessor also put in excellent performances at the Open.

Bowie, who is head coach at the club, said it was an excellent result for the squad.

He said: “This was a great success and the most people we’ve ever taken to the Scottish Open so far since the club was born.”
