A sneak thief entered a hospital office and stole a handbag and its contents which included season tickets for Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The incident happened on January 10, 2022 when 47-year-old Warren Maclean was abusing alcohol and drugs, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

Fiscal depute Victoria Silver told Sheriff Sara Matheson that Maclean, who is currently serving a three years jail sentence for sexually assaulting young girls, had gone into the unlocked office in Raigmore Hospital.

Maclean, formerly of Gordonville Road, Inverness, admitted theft of the bag which also had two bank cards.

Defence solicitor John MacColl said: "It was clearly reprehensible conduct. At that time he had difficulty with alcohol and drugs misuse."

Jailing Maclean for 10 months to run at the same time as his current sentence, Sheriff Matheson said: "The locus where you stole these items puts this offence into a more serious light."
