Resurfacing work is set to cause disruption for motorists on the A9 south of Inverness next week.

Bear Scotland has announced that its contractors will be carrying our three nights of carriageway improvement works south of the Slochd, starting on Wednesday (May 8).

The work will run nightly between 7pm and 6am on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday night, with the work finishing on the Monday morning. Roadworks will not operate on the Friday or Saturday nights.

Bear said that during the work, two-way traffic lights and a convoy system will operate.

Outwith the night-time working hours, this traffic management will be lifted, although a temporary 30mph limit will be in effect during the day on those nights where surfacing work is taking place, as the road surface will still be temporary and ramps will be used.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, Bear Scotland’s north-west representative, said: “This crucial surfacing project on the A9 south of Slochd will fix existing defects and will significantly enhance the driving experience for all motorists.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete these improvements.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
