Remains found just outside Aviemore believed to be those of Rodrigo Falcon

A body found yesterday by Aviemore is believed to be that of Rodrigo Falcon, who went missing 16 months ago.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.15pm on Friday, April 26, 2024, a body was discovered just outside Aviemore.

“Formal identification is still to take place, however the family of Rodrigo Falcon, who was reported missing from the area in December 2022, have been informed.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The remains are reported to have been found curled under a tree as if sheltering from the winter weather.

The location of of the discovery was in tough ground to the west of the dog park area to the south of Aviemore where it’s understood that Mr Falcon’s footprints had last been recorded.

Private investigators had joined the search for the popular 33-year-old hospitality worker last year in an effort to establish just what had happened to him, but without success.

Rodrigo’s mother, had joined appeals for information promising: “We will never stop looking for him.”

The last image of him was captured just before 3am on that fateful day in December 2022, as he passed the CCTV camera at the bottom of Grampian Road as he strode south – the opposite direction to where he had been living at Dalfaber – in freezing cold weather.

Nothing had been seen nor heard of him since, despite extensive efforts by police, friends and the wider local community to find him in the weeks and months that followed.

Daniela made a renewed appeal from her home city of Buenos Aires for information on her 'very good son' and said she hoped no-one else ever had to endure such heartache.
