Detectives in Inverness are investigating an unsuccessful night-time break-in attempt at a city supermarket.

Three people managed to smash their way through the front door at Lidl on Telford Road in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

Having gained entry through one door, though, the culprits made a failed attempt to break through a second entry door to the main supermarket floor.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of the store on Thursday, April 24 between 3.15 am and 3.20 am.

Officers are unsure as to which direction the culprits fled the scene empty-handed.

“We are continuing to carry out enquiries, gather and study CCTV from in and around the local area to assist us in establishing more information on this crime."

Anyone with information relating to the break-in or who was in the area at the times and date of the incident and saw or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact 101 with reference number 0306 of 24/04/2024.
