A blood test subsequently showed that he had 14mcgs of the Class A narcotic in his body on September 20, 2021 when the legal limit is 10mcgs.

Fiscal depute Adele Gray told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald that police suspected he was under the influence and pulled over his vehicle in Thornbush Road, Inverness at about 11pm.

Defence solicitor advocate Clare Russell said his client "had a poor driving record, especially in England, and he is currently disqualified until 2027. He struggles on a daily basis with substance misuse."

Bell was also fined £470.
