A Highland rapist who subjected young women to violent and sexual offences will now “face the consequences of his actions”, according to police.

Owen Lonie (25) was found guilty of the offences including rape at the High Court in Inverness on May 23. He was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on June 30, to seven years in prison, with a further five years on license.

The offences were committed against two women between 2018 and 2022.

One of the women subjected to his campaign of abuse, Anna-Nicole Stewart, has now shared her story in an exclusive interview. Read it here.

Detective Constable Fraser Duncan said: "Lonie is an abusive individual who subjected his victims to horrific offending. He will now face the consequences of his actions.

"We recognise how difficult these enquiries can be for victims and would like to thank them in coming forward and assisting in bringing Lonie to justice.

"We remain committed to investigating all reports of sexual crime and domestic abuse and would encourage anyone affected to report it. Every report is taken seriously and will be fully investigated, with support from our specially trained officers and partner agencies."
