Maggie’s Highlands are set to launch a brand-new family friendly elf run and Christmas fayre at UHI Inverness next month.

This exciting new event that Maggie's have just launched is aimed to get the whole family involved in some holiday fun as they have encouraged all participants to be dressed in elf costumes, or other Christmas attire to raise funds for Maggie’s Highlands on Sunday 26 November.

The emphasis is on fun so families can either walk or run the route through the grounds of the Inverness Campus.

There are two separate routes available making it suitable for all ages and stages, the short route is 1.42km while the longer route is 3.7km, however all routes are pram or wheelchair friendly.

The charity have encouraged those attending to wear Christmas themed fancy dress as there will be prize's offered for the best dressed on the day.

In aid of the event fundraiser, each runner has been asked to raise a sponsorship of £40 for Maggie’s Highlands.

Tracey Gill, centre fundraiser at Maggie’s Highlands said: “We are very excited to launch this new event, it’s going to be a great day for all of the family jam packed with festivities to kick off the Christmas season.

"All of the money raised at the event will allow the team at Maggie’s Highlands to continue to provide the vital support that they offer to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis across the Highlands.”

In addition to the elf run, there will also be a Christmas fayre set up in the UHI Atrium from 10am-2pm.

Exhibitors at the fayre will be selling their wares including gifts, jewellery and artwork.

The fayre is open to everyone who is eager to pick up some original gifts as a part of their Christmas shopping, or spend a festive day out enjoying some holiday themed food and drink.

People have been encouraged to sign up to the elf run in advance via Eventbite's website where adult tickets are being sold for £10 and a child's ticket for £5.
