PICTURES: Nairn event hits right note for Strictly Inverness fundraiser
People in Nairn danced the night away raising £2500 for charity on Saturday.
A big dance night organised by Strictly Inverness contestant Emma MacDonald saw more than 100 people taking on the dance floor at Nairn Community and Arts Centre.
This was Emma’s biggest fundraising event as part of her Strictly Inverness campaign, with the money raised going to support the Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre,
She said: “Everyone said it was a great night so I am very happy! I can’t stop smiling thinking about this.
“We played music bingo and had a raffle. I am very thankful for the help given by Donnie Macleod Catering, who provided the food and the Westerlea hotel that took care of the mobile bar.
“The band Ezra played on the night – I knew them as they had played at my wedding so that was great.
“My friend Rebecca who owns R&B Karaoke took on the task of doing most of the talking, and that took away a lot of pressure as I don’t like to be the centre of the attention!”
“This is my last fundraising event, I will probably do some more fundraising through social media.
With Strictly Inverness taking place in less than a month, excitement is in the air for Emma.
“I am glad I can now focus on this and the fundraising is mostly done.
“Now that there are only a few weeks to go, it’s starting to sink in! I am starting to get scared a bit, but I also am very excited.
“It will be nice to get everyone to see what we have been up to since January.”
