UPDATE: Car fire on the A9 south of Inverness tackled by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with Police Scotland assisting with traffic management

Traffic Scotland is reporting another incident on the A9, this time to the south of Inverness about a mile from Bogbain.

A car was on fire according to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with Police Scotland assisitng with traffic management.

The road appears to have now been cleared but users were advised to use caution on approach and to expect longer than normal journey times.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said: “We were called to reports of a car on fire on the A9 at 3.09pm.

“We sent two appliances from Inverness.”

According to the Traffic Scotland map, the incident appears to have taken place at a pedestrian crossing on a dualled part of the A9.

Police Scotland said: This is a car on fire. We’re just assisting the SFRS with traffic management, so best to ask them for a statement.

Traffic Scotland reported: “The A9 southbound, south of Inverness at Drumossie (B9177) is restricted to a Police incident, road users are advised to use caution on approach, and expect longer than normal journey times.”
