Runners are being encouraged to support each other at an endurance event returning to the shores of Loch Ness this summer.

The Loch Ness 24 sees teams of runners as well as solo entrants completing as many 7km laps in the space of 24 hours as possible.

Prices for entry to the event increase after Easter Sunday, and those keen to challenge themselves are urged to sign up early.

Jessica Russell of Zone Events said: “Loch Ness 24 is more than just a race, it’s a place to push your limits and see how far you can go. Everyone’s goal is unique. Maybe you’re working towards hitting an ultra goal (seven-plus laps), your first marathon distance (six laps) or taking it to the next level and clocking up as many laps as possible in 24 hours – the record is 29 laps for a solo runner.

“Relay teams of two to eight people support and encourage one another throughout, especially in the dark hours when things get gnarly, to walk/hobble away as prize winners in their category. Nothing fosters team spirit quite like it.”

The event is in its third year and supports a number of local charities. The event village at the start/finish line is situated beside the campsite and offers local beers and food for sale to participants and supporters.

People can sign up at www.lochness24.co.uk for the event which takes place over the weekend of August 24-25 at Dores.
