A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged attempted murder after Inverness officers on patrol on the High Street were almost struck by a car on Sunday (March 10).

Police confirmed that the teenage boy will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 16-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder after a car was deliberately driven at a police officer on High Street in Inverness on Sunday, 10 March, 2024.

"Around 12.35am officers carrying out patrols on foot attempted to stop a grey Subaru Outback. The vehicle failed to stop and was deliberately driven at one of the officers.

“The officer took evasive action to avoid the vehicle and was uninjured."

Yesterday, detectives in Inverness appealed for information after the incident on the High Street.

After officers managed to avoid the car, the Subaru then continued along the High Street onto Eastgate then exited onto Crown Road before going left onto Academy Street.
