An Inverness Labrador, who won ‘best in class’ for gundogs at the world’s biggest dog show, Crufts, visited the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness to taste test its brand new menu catering to every dog's needs.

Emma Bamford and four-year-old Tweed (Nithvalley Tweed at Foxhope) won gold at their first-ever outing together at the world’s biggest dog show. The pair were amongst almost 20,000 dogs recognised at this year’s event in Birmingham.

Emma is keen on feeding her dogs the very best to make sure they feel as good as they look. In aid of this, she came along to the Drumossie Hotel to try out their new dog menu, which enables owners to dine alongside their precious canine friends.

Emma said: “Having a dog menu is really helpful as whatever we do, there is always a dog that comes with us, whether it’s a walk, a trip to a cafe, or just to nip to the shops, there is always a dog with us.

“So, to be able to give them that treat while we are having a coffee is really nice.

“It’s great that the Drumossie is dog friendly as there are some really great walks around here. There’s also a park down the road where I take my son, so it’s nice to come in here after and have something warm to drink with the dog rather than them sitting in the car.”

The menu was inspired by the Drumossie's general manager’s dog, Ben.

Stephane Portes, general manager at the Drumossie Hotel, is originally from Paris and has gained extensive experience after he worked at both The Ritz and The Savoy in London. Ten years of his career, he served as the head of hospitality at the House of Lords and having worked with the Macdonald brand for over five years, he is now looking forward to bringing the value of care to guests and their four-legged friends to the Drumossie.

Having worked all over the world, including Argentina, Hong Kong and New York, alongside having a master of business administration under his belt, Stephane has a wealth of knowledge about creating a memorable hospitality experience.

He said: "I think it is important to value our guests and their four-legged friends who should receive the same treatments and hospitality.

"Our hospitality extends to all who visit Drumossie."

In aid of this, Tweed was invited to try the very best of what the menu has to offer.

The menu offers a wide range of food choices, from a simple pup-cup all the way to a sirloin steak.

For those pups with a sweet tooth, Ben's menu offers a puppyccino, doggy pup-cakes and natural yoghurt.

All of the dishes were tried and approved by Inverness’s dashing canine, Tweed, with the help and assistance of his very own chef, Helen.

When talking about the pair’s visit to the hotel, Emma said: “Tweed loves the attention wherever he goes, and ever since he came here he has had endless belly rubs. He loves coming out with us, as do all of our dogs, and to be totally honest I can’t understand walking without a dog so to go out and find these kinds of dog friendly places is lovely.”

This is the first menu of its kind at the Drumossie Hotel as it intends on continuing to welcome guests and their pets to have a comfortable stay.

Ben's menu is also available as part of the room service and picnic to go package, so your dog can be catered to at any time or place.
