Bannerman looking to retain her crown

Jenny Bannerman is bidding for her third win in five years in the women’s contest in the River Ness 10K which, like the Loch Ness Marathon, has attracted a very competitive field of international athletes.

This is the second of four major autumn 10ks on the 30-year-old Inverness Harrier’s programme.

Having broken her 10k personal best at last year’s marathon, she’s gone even quicker and will be looking to break her own record again.

“I have good memories of last year’s race because I set a personal best of 35:14, although I’ve twice since run faster,” she said.

“I didn’t have a great run at the Scottish Championships two weeks ago, but recent training suggests this was a one-off."
