Disabled sports boost as athletes double in number

The number of disabled athletes who have taken part at the Highland Disability Sport (HDS) Junior Athletics Championships has doubled in the last 15 years.

Clubs and schools in the Highlands have been credited with the rise in participation of athletes at the annual event at Queen’s Park Stadium which had a record entry of 149 participants this year.

The top young disabled athletes from across the region competed in track and field events in Inverness.
