Hickey claims silver in Scotland debut

Strathpeffer long distance runner Hamish Hickey claimed silver in the 5000 metres at the Celtic University Track and Field Match at Grangemouth.

The Ross County Athletics Club athlete made his debut for Scotland at the championships as the country’s top student athletes took on Ireland on Saturday.

The 17-year-old put in a good performance to finish second with a time of 16 minutes 17 seconds in hot and windy weather conditions.
