Inverness golfer claims another major title as she wins Royal Dornoch Open
SUMMER Elliott claimed another major golf title as she came out on top to take victory at the Royal Dornoch Ladies Open.
The Inverness golfer took the title by three shots from her nearest challenger Caitlin Boa as she fired in a level par 76 to claim victory.
The Inverness Golf Club and Nairn Golf Club member battled gusty conditions at the Sutherland course to win the trophy.
Elliott (18) says she was pleased with her performance and how she battled challenging weather conditions to come out on top at the tournament.
She said: “I really love playing Royal Dornoch, and I always seem to play well there even when the weather is really bad.
“I knew how windy it was going to be and I just tried my best to be as accurate as possible.

“I only had one bad hole where I lost a ball, but I had a really good chip into the green so managed to get away with a double bogey.
“But since I had an eagle on the seventh, it compensated for the bad hole. Normally I shoot under par at Dornoch, but with 30 mph wind I did well finishing level par.”
It is the latest major title Elliott has won in her career as she continues to boost her reputation as one of the most promising young golfers in the country.
Last year, she made history after becoming the first woman to win the Nairnshire County Championship
She also claimed the first Junior Tour Scotland competition win of the season when she won by nine shots at the tournament which was held at Tain Golf Club and Royal Dornoch Golf Club.
In 2023, she won the Scottish Order of Merit title as she claimed a number of victories in tournaments such as Stephen Gallacher Vase, the Paul Lawrie Junior Quaich and Barrie Douglas Scottish Junior Masters.
She was also named in Scottish Golf's squad selection for the 2023/24 season as part of the girls' performance squad.
Earlier this year, she competed in the 122nd Women’s Amateur Championship alongside some of the top female amateurs in golf.
Also, last week Elliott shot six under par on the second qualifying round of the Nairn Golf Club Championships and was first qualifier, after rounds of 77 and 69 from the Ladies Green tees. She then lost in the match play final to Carinne Taylor from Nairn, after winning against Iona Reid from Nairn Dunbar.
Elliott is now looking to build on her victory at the Royal Dornoch Open as she prepares for competitions in the rest of the season.
