Christmas shopping locally to support local businesses is something we should all be doing this year, for some this festive retail season will be key for survival and the Shop local message rings true now even more so than last year. We have more freedom this year than last, and the hospitality businesses are making the most of this. We hear from Kenny from the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel who have a fabulous party nights from Abba and disco to local bands like Skooty and the Skyhooks to Carvery lunches for families on Christmas Day and January 1st be sure to get in touch with the team at Drumossie to secure your spot.

We hear from the Co-Founder of the Highland Business partnership and owner of Inverness Taxis on the stark truth behind the labour shortages that have been well publicised in the media of late, and what that will mean on your safety. His advice is to book your taxi in advance to ensure you have a safe way to get home during this festive season.

Award season has returned with a mix of virtual and physical events returning to the calendar. We see the second SHIREs Conference and Awards take place virtually through the Harper Macleod virtual platform. At the time of writing this, the judging will have taken place and finalists will be announced, the awards have seen a record breaking amount of entries which is fantastic. To attend the conference and awards register here. It is free to attend, come along and support the Rural Economy and all that we have to celebrate in our diverse and innovative region.

The Inverness Chamber of Commerce Highland Business Awards also return to the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel on Thursday the 25th of November, where we will see Highland businesses recognised for their contributions to the region in a glittering event, one of the first in person award ceremonies in the Highlands since 2019. Unable to make it to Inverness? Not to worry they have you covered with the option to dial in virtually as well complete with a grazing box and celebration drink delivered to you. Fore more information about the event, please contact the Inverness Chamber of Commerce or visit their website here.

That is it from me this month, looking forward to speaking to business owners across the region at the events mentioned above.
