17 postcodes affected by power outage in Inverness after fire at substation
Homes and businesses near Clachnaharry, Raigmore and Inverness city centre are without power this morning after a reported fire at an electrical substation.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that fire crews were called to a fire at Waterloo Place in the early hours of the morning.
It is understood appliances were stood down at 6am this morning after bringing the blaze under control.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted to a building fire at Waterloo Place, Inverness at 3.30am on Friday, September 15.
"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire affecting a single-storey plant room. Crews worked to make the area safe.
"There were no reported casualties."
Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks have confirmed that an unplanned outage is ongoing and that engineers are currently on site.
An initial fault was raised at 3.29am.

A statement from the energy provider said: "We're sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can."
