Two men have been hospitalised following a “disturbance” in Invergordon that left the High Street cordoned off by police.

Residents in the Easter Ross town awoke on Thursday to find access to part of High Street closed, with police tape and cordons in place.

Officers have now confirmed that the large police response was connected to a disturbance at around 1.30am.

Two men were taken to hospital for treatment and were also arrested on suspicion of “serious assault”.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a disturbance at High Street, Invergordon, around 1.30am on Thursday, February 6.

“An 38-year-old man and a 35-year-old man were taken to hospital for treatment.
