Hospital patients travelling to Raigmore face weeks of disruption while roadworks take place outside its main inpatient entrance, NHS Highland has warned.

Work will start on Monday on work to improve the area at the hospital’s main inpatient entrance (Zone 5).

NHS Highland said the work, which is expected to take up to four weeks, will “provide better access for patients, visitors and staff as well as improved access for emergency and other NHS vehicles”.

They added: “It will also provide extended and improved drop-off and pick-up points for patients.”

But it has warned that the works will likely cause disruption.

“While the work is ongoing there will be some disruption including temporary pedestrian routes, restricted vehicle access and short term closure of one set of entrance doors,” they said.

“[Contractor] Kier Construction, will manage the works, and have personnel on site, to assist with directions and manage traffic.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”
