Inverness court sees swearing in of new magistrates

Five new Justice of the Peace magistrates have been sworn in at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Grampian, Highland and Islands Sheriff Principal Derek Pyle conducted the swearing in.

Airport operations manager Darren MacLeod; retired RAF officer Neil Mackenzie; mental health nurse Helen Eunson and computer scientist Moses Anderson will take up their duties at Inverness shortly while the fifth, retired secondary school deputy head Isobel Mackenzie, will take the bench at Fort William Sheriff Court.

They are pictured with Sheriff Pyle and sheriffdom legal adviser to the JP court, James McPherson.

Sheriff Pyle welcomed the newcomers and congratulated them in completing "the difficult process over the past few months" of becoming a JP.

Procurator fiscal depute Alison Wylie and depute Dean of the Faculty of Solicitors in the Highlands, Pauline Gair, also welcomed them and both assured the new judges of assistance and guidance from their colleagues.
