A massive £63,500 windfall has been raised for a Highland charity after its latest hugely successful Golf Day fundraiser.

Maggie’s Highland revealed the “amazing” total after 24 teams of golfers - almost 100 people in total - took to the fairways of Cabot Highlands at Castle Stuart recently.

Following the golfing action, the teams enjoyed an evening VIP barbecue of steak and lobster, as well as entertainment from “the hilarious Des Clarke” as the evening’s host and charity auctioneer.

Maggie’s Highland, which provides support to people with cancer and their families, was absolutely delighted with the outcome of the day and auction, which generated the huge five-figure sum towards its work offering “vital, free support to people facing a cancer diagnosis across the Highlands, and their loved ones”.

Tracey Gill, centre fundraising manager at Maggie’s Highlands, said: “Our Golf Day could not be possible without the support and generosity of our headline sponsor RSE and of course Jeremy and the wonderful team at Cabot Highlands.

“We’d like to thank all the businesses, supporters and volunteers who helped make this event such a success”

“The support that Maggie’s Highlands offers is vital and there is nowhere else quite like it. Here in the Highlands since 2005 Maggie’s have welcomed 195,000 visits from people with cancer and their families. And we hope to be here for the next twenty years to continue to offer the expert support people need to find their way through cancer.”

And the princely sum of £63,500 is set to grow further as the charity heads into the summer. It is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025 and will holding a birthday gala ball in Inverness’s Drumossie Hotel on Friday, June 27.
