Thanks for ‘highest standard’ care at hospital

On January 13 I slipped and fell while out walking, and was taken to Raigmore Hospital by a family member.

From the time I entered A&E and right throughout my stay, the care and treatment I received was of the highest standard.

I was admitted to Ward 3B, and following hip surgery the next day, was then transferred to Ward 3A.

The staff were run off their feet, yet showed such care and consideration to each and every patient. Sad to say, some patients still complained.

From the auxiliaries to the most senior surgeon I say a massive THANK YOU to you all.

So good to know our hospital is manned by such professional people.

Council rejects speed cut proposals

Highland Council has rejected Scottish Government proposals to cut the national speed limit for cars from 60mph to 50mph but backed increasing it for HGVs from its current 50mph limit, citing “significant length of national speed limit road network and remoteness” of the area.

“As usual the Scottish Government can’t think outside the central belt. I bet the only time these idealistic government planners who dream up these naive plans only travel north of Perth is during the summer recess, and have no idea that time means money for Highland businesses who need to shift their goods quickly and on time.” - Donald MacLeod, Inverness

“That's good news. I can't think of anything worse that driving at 50mph, it's bad enough we are driving on some roads that are 20mph when they could be 30mph.” - Hugh Morgan

“At last, a council with common sense.” - Dale Griffiths
