The Leonore Piano Trio will be playing in Nairn on April 23.

CLASSICAL music will be back in Nairn for the next date of a popular series of events.

Nairn Community and Arts centre will welcome internationally acclaimed Leonore Piano Trio for an evening concert on Sunday, April 23 – with a change in line up.

Following the violinist Benjamin Nabarro getting injured, the concert will go ahead with the cellist and pianist performing as a duo.

Formed by renowned artists Benjamin Nabarro (violin), Gemma Rosefield (cello) and Tim Horton (piano), the trio will travel to Nairn for the first timeto give a performance as part of the Music Nairn concert series.

The programme is appealing and varied, starting with a short witty set of variations by Martinu based on a Rossini theme, and concluding with the glorious Rachmaninov Sonata for cello and piano.

Between will be two solo items, Bach Cello Suite no 3, and two of Chopin's op 27 Nocturnes for piano.

A Music Nairn spokesperson said: "We very much hope you will support this new programme, but if you have already purchased tickets via the Nairn Community Centre and do not wish to attend then a refund can be arranged."

Formed in 2012, the Leonore Piano Trio brings together three internationally acclaimed artists whose piano trio performances as part of Ensemble 360 were met with such enthusiastic response that they decided to form a piano trio in its own right. The Trio has since given concerts both at home and in many other parts of the world, combining a comprehensive repertoire of works by the celebrated classical and romantic composers as well as being keen exponents of contemporary music and have performed works by distinguished composers including Harrison Birtwistle and Huw Watkins.

Ms Rosefield and Mr Horton regularly perform as a duo.

Tickets are available from Nairn Community & Arts Centre at £15 (£3 for students) both in advance and on the day.

You can also book tickets by calling 01667 453476 or on www.nairncc.co.uk.
