All are invited for Christmas Day meal at Inverness Cathedral
A FEAST is being prepared for anyone who would like to join staff and friends at Inverness Cathedral on Christmas Day.
Cook Andrea MacDonald (31), a member of the cathedral café staff, is one of a team of people who are preparing the meal for about 75 people.
As the final numbers for the dinner will only be revealed as people sit down to eat, she said: “Don’t worry if it is last minute, come along and have some food with us.”
Take-away meals are also being offered.
Ms MacDonald wants anyone, whether on their own, with family members or groups of people to feel that the door is open on Christmas Day and that a meal is being prepared for anyone who would like to join her and her hard-working team.
She is even happy for anyone who would like a Christmas meal but does not want to stay for the party to take some food with them.
Ms MacDonald, who is cooking the Christmas Day meal at the venue for the first time, said she was only paying back the kindness she had been shown during her 18 months at the cathedral.
She said: “I started at the cathedral 18 months ago as a volunteer and I am now the café manager. Everyone has been very kind to me and I want to give something back in return.
“My family live in Fort William so I won’t be having Christmas lunch with them, but it isn’t a chore to be doing this, it is a privilege.
“I want everything to be perfect, so I am getting the details of the day organised. There will be a choice of two soups, a full traditional Christmas meal with all the trimmings and then two deserts. Both ourselves and Ness Church are open on Christmas day, so food and friendship will be waiting for those who want or need it.”
Inverness Cathedral dedicated to St Andrew’s open table is on from 12.30pm and all are welcome.
