Th show jumping final, vintage tractor parade and tractor push and a sheepdog demonstration were amongst the events being enjoyed on Wednesday evening ahead of the Steve Colley Motorbike Stunt Show.
Green-fingered gurus were showing their best efforts in the ever-popular flower show and sheep-shearing competitions got underway too.
Show president Tom Henderson of Udale Farm told us: “We’ve got a good lot of people, we’ve got fantastic weather which always makes a good show and hopefully that will take people out.”
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s main day events, he said: “There’s lots to see and do for the whole family so we’re hoping to welcome a lot of people.”
He said: “The show as a whole is very special thing. The backbone of the show is the livestock side of things - we’ve got fantastic sheep shows sheep-shearing, the cattle shows are always a highlight and tomorrow afternoon we welcome back the heavy horse turnouts. That’s the first time they will have been here for 25 years.
“We’re hoping that all goes well and draws the crowds in.”
He feels upbeat ahead of the main attraction. He said: “We’ve got a good team here and everyone is always so well prepared.”
Will he be heaving a sigh of relief when it’s all over tomorrow? Not exactly: “We start preparing for next year’s show now. We’re well practised in it - it’s a great team and everyone has got their jobs. There’s great teamwork - I’m really excited.”
