Ardersier International Folk Club needs your vote
Ardersier International Folk Club has been honoured to be one of the nominations in the Traditional Scottish Music Awards for folk club of the year.
George Livingstone, a singer-songwriter and member of folk duo Corralach, said the members are delighted with the nomination.
The club meets at Wendy's Café in the village every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm. Musicians and audiences, who just come along and make a contribution to funding the evenings, often enjoy the vibe.
"We ask you to consider voting for us as this would be a great accolade for the area," George said.
"We meet in a very informal setting sitting around a table in what is a former classroom in the old Ardersier School.
"Everyone is given an equal opportunity to perform their songs, tunes, poems, stories and chat and this informality is a recipe which works well with lots of talented singers, musicians and audiences who want to come along and just enjoy the evening.
"We are a non-membership club and are financed by everybody making a small donation on the night. We have a guest once a month and an annual weekend festival.
"We encourage everyone, and in particular young people. to come along and play an instrument or sing a song. We have individuals who attend and perform who have never done so in public before, have some individuals who have a physical or learning disability whom we encourage and support to sing or play.
"The club is also open to those who want to come along and listen, and we do have a regular audience."
Having been nominated, the club now depends upon supporters voting for them before this Sunday at https://projects.handsupfortrad.scot/scotstradmusicawards/voting/
The MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards is to be held in the Caird Hall, Dundee on December 4.
