Ardersier International Folk Club set to host folk scene stalwart Christine Kydd in special guest performance
Ardersier will welcome an acclaimed Scottish folk musician next week.
For its monthly guest night, Ardersier International Folk Club is set to host a performance by multi award-winning singer Christine Kydd.
Performing at the village church Hall on Tuesday, June 3, the musician was twice nominated for MG Alba Scots Singer of the Year and was inducted to the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame at the Na Trads in 2018.
Shift & Change, her latest critically acclaimed release, was described as ‘a collection that showcases one of Scottish Folk Music’s timeless treasures’.
David Godden of Ardersier International Folk Club said: "We are delighted to host Christine at Ardersier.
“A Traditional Music Hall of Fame inductee, she is one of Scotland's most outstanding traditional singers, as well as a talented songwriter, singing teacher and great friend to many in the Highlands. Following recovery from a recent serious illness, Christine has returned to performing stronger than ever. An evening not to be missed."
As respected and loved by fellow musicians as she is by her audiences, Christine’s songs range from traditional Scots ballads to her own new writing, but all are coherently connected by the warmth and humanity of her gorgeous singing, her sense of fun and her love of song.
The event will start at 7.30pm, with £10 tickets on the door or in advance from rdersierfolkclub.org.uk.
Christine will be following her appearance at Ardersier with a singing workshop, open to all, at Nairn Community & Arts Centre on Saturday June 7.
