'Around 100' properties in Inverness still without power after substation fire





A statement from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks has confirmed that "around 100" properties are still without power after an outage caused by a fire earlier this morning.

Some 2800 properties were originally impacted by the fire at a substation near Waterloo Place but engineers have now restored power to most of those buildings.

The latest report from SSEN Powertrack suggests that most of the properties who are still without power are situated close to Inverness High Street.

SSEN communications manager Duncan MacDonald said: "Following on from our 8am update and statement, we've restored around 50 additional properties through mobile generation and further rerouting of the network.

"Around 100 properties remain without power and we are working to restore all supplies by 6pm this evening."
