Auldearn Georgian-era mansion Boath House has closed for business as from today, according to cancellation emails sent to customers.

The venue - which was bought by artist Jonny Gent and architect Russell Potter in August 2022 and which hosted a celebrity wedding between BBC’s Peaky Blinders actor Amber Anderson and Netflix’s Sex Education star Connor Swindells this summer, has been welcoming guests and diners until very recently.

However as from today its website states that the hotel and dining room are now closed until further notice, and its Facebook Page has been taken down.

A customer who had booked a dinner for the end of January - with a wedding gift voucher worth in excess of £200 - said they received an email today to cancel the booking.

The email stated: “Hello, I am very sorry to inform you that Boath House Hotel and Restaurant has ceased trading and the business is closed with immediate effect. Your dining reservation with us is therefore cancelled.

“We are very sorry about this situation and the inconvenience it will cause you.”

Calling the venue’s phone number, a recorded message states the hotel will be closed until January 25.

The owner has been contacted for comment.
