Outstanding achievements, leadership and long service were honoured by the Boys Brigade at a special event in Inverness.

The Boys Brigade Highland Long Service Awards were presented at the Inverness Methodist Church on Sunday, May 25.

A spokesperson said: “The Inverness Methodist Church was filled with pride and celebration as the Boys Brigade Highland Long Service Awards were presented during the end-of-session service, recognising the dedication and commitment of the leaders who have shown exemplary service over the years.

“The ceremony was a heart-warming affair, attended by young people, leaders, their families, and the local community. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the prestigious Long Service Awards, which honoured those who have dedicated significant time and effort to the Boys Brigade.

“These awards are a testament to the enduring spirit and commitment of the recipients.”

In addition to the Long Service Awards, the service also saw the presentation of the first King’s Badges and President’s Badges. These badges are among the highest accolades in the Boys Brigade, awarded to members who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership.

This is the first time that King’s Badges have been presented to members since replacing the Queen’s Badge in September 2024 which members achieved for almost 70 years. The King’s Badge is awarded to senior members who have completed a rigorous programme of activities and service, showcasing their leadership skills and commitment to the values of the Boys Brigade.

The President’s Badge, on the other hand, is given to younger members who have shown exceptional promise and dedication.

“The Boys Brigade continues to play a vital role in the community, fostering the development of young people and instilling values of service, leadership, and commitment.”
