A penthouse apartment in what was once the home of a former Inverness Provost has been placed on the rental market.

Lentran House, which sits above the southern shore of the Beauly Firth, is a B-listed Scottish Baronial mansion dating back to 1866.

It served as a base for an RAF Spitfire Maintenance Unit during World War II and was later divided to create six separate dwellings.

Apartment 12, which includes three double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sitting room with bay and turret windows, is now available for rent via independent property consultancy, Galbraith.

The property has a lift as well as a sweeping staircase.

Marsaili Macleod, of Galbraith in Inverness, said: "This is one of the loveliest rental properties available in the Highlands of Scotland.

"The owner has tastefully refurbished the apartment to the highest standard, creating a welcoming home.

"The approaching driveway and the history of the house add to the sense of grandeur".

Apartment 12, Lentran House, is available for a rental of £1200 per calendar month. Contact Marsaili Macleod on (01463) 224343.
