An Inverness bakery hopes to return to a city business park where a huge blaze destroyed one of its shops.

Harry Gow Bakery is among several businesses hit by the fire after a car was deliberately driven into a building at Fairways Business Park at the weekend.

Police have launched a major hunt for the masked fire-raiser who rammed a Skoda Octavia car into the premises and torched the vehicle.

The building, which was gutted, contained five different shop units including SJ Travel Centre, Scottish Premium Seafoods, a Harry Gow bakery, and Hair Chic hairdressers.

In a statement, Harry Gow Bakery, which has 17 store across the Highlands and Moray, thanked people for their messages of support in the wake of the fire - and indicated it hoped to be back at Fairways.

"Following the devastating fire at Fairways Business Park in the early hours of Sunday morning, we are first and foremost relieved no one was hurt during this incident and are grateful to the emergency services for their part in this,” the company stated.

“We also have much appreciation for the kind messages of support from our customers and the wider community.

“Now, in true Highland spirit, it's about picking up the pieces and moving forward.

“We are in the fortunate position to be able to offer our loyal customers an alternative location to get their Harry Gow Bakery favourites - including our new Harbour Road branch, opening very soon.

“At this time, we are sending support and reassurance to our neighbouring businesses – here's to a swift recovery; we'll all be back on the block soon enough."

Anyone with information or dashcam footage relevant to the incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 0032 of 9 March, or to pass information on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
