Bars and restaurants in Inverness are getting ready to shake it up for the city’s first ever Cocktail Week.

The event, from February 28 to March 9, will form part of the Inverness and Loch Ness Food and Drink Festival and will be supported by 20 venues.

It aims to boost the hospitality trade while offering £5 cocktails, food and experiences at a budget price.

Event founder Alice Christison said whether it was a visitor hitting the town for a day, evening or night out, or a local who wanted to try hot new spots or visit special occasion favourites for a massively reduced price, there would be something for all.

“I’ve worked in hospitality and marketing my whole career and I’ve never known the whole trade to be so scared about the future,” she said.

“So, we really want to help our friends and colleagues in the trade – and the feedback from the other nationwide Cocktail Week events, like St Andrews has been phenomenal.”

She urged people to get behind the event and use the chance to sample some new outlets as well as their favourites.

“The city boasts such an incredible range of bars, and the £5 signature cocktails on offer as part of the event really are going to be crowd pleasers, there definitely is something everyone will love,” she said.

“Supporting the city's hospitality businesses through events like this is so important and it has been brilliant to see the whole city get behind this event.”

Participating venues include the Fig & Thistle, Jimmy Badger’s, Soundbar and The White House while others such as Little Italy, Encore and The Wee Bar will offer a range of food deals for wristband holders.

Jo Page, of Visit Inverness Loch Ness, said: "It’s fantastic that the first-ever Inverness Cocktail Week has landed right in the middle of the Inverness and Loch Ness Food and Drink Festival.

“It’s a brilliant addition to our fortnight of celebrating the region’s vibrant food and drink scene -perfect for brightening up the winter months, whether you’re a visitor or a local with so many great deals and experiences to take advantage of."
