Beauly gears up for its 60th gala
ORGANISERS of the Beauly Gala are looking forward to celebrating its 60th anniversary this weekend.
The very first Beauly gala queen, Rosie MacDonald, presided over the crowning of Alicia Forbes as this year’s reigning monarch at Beauly Primary School’s summer fete last week.
She will take on her regal duties – supported by Princess Leanna Weeks and Prince Harry Chalmers – at the gala in Braeview Park from noon until 5pm today, after children enjoy a teddy bears picnic at the same location today.
Event organiser Judith Whitelaw said the crowning had gone well and hopes were high for a great gala , which starts with a parade led by the Strathpeffer Pipe Band.
A number of previous gala queens have been specially invited to this year’s event, which will feature a range of entertainment including Highland dancers, a magic act, circus skills, an exhibition of classic cars and more than 30 stalls.
Mrs Whitelaw said: “It is 60 years since the first ever Beauly Gala and it is really going to be a celebration this year.”
