Broken engine sparks cancellation of Cromarty-Ferry services 'until further notice'
Engine trouble has sparked the cancellation of the Cromarty-Nigg Ferry "until further notice".
Highland Ferries, which runs the popular seasonal service crossing the entrance of the Cromarty Firth, has warned passengers of the disruption.
It tweeted to say it has had to send an engine part away to be repaired and won't get it back until midweek.
Its website also advises that it will update passengers with more information "as we find out" and apologised for the inconvenience.
A spokesman for the ferry said: "We need to send an engine part away to get fixed and unfortunately we won't get it back until the middle of next week, so there's no ferry service operating at the moment, sorry."
Traffic Scotland has advised motorists and foot passengers that the ferry will be out of action "until further notice".
