Highland Hospice nurse’s China Ball gets fundraiser rolling
Friends and colleagues of a Highland Hospice nurse came out in force to support her fundraising efforts this weekend.
As we reported previously hospice nurse Gillian McRobie is set to form part of a 30-strong group heading out to walk part of the Great Wall of China next year in a major fundraising drive for the hospice which provides end of life care and support for affected families across the region.

The aim is for a collective effort to raise £200,000 and as her first major fundraiser aimed at boosting the coffers before they set off next April, Gillian organised a China Ball which was held at the MacDonald Drumossie Hotel on Saturday evening, featuring delicious Chinese food and music as well as auctions and raffles.
Posting pictures from the sumptuous night Highland Hospice said:” A tremendous evening at the Drumossie Hotel for the China Ball!
“In April 2026 a group of Highland Hospice supporters, including some nurses and staff, will be undertaking a nine day trek of the magnificent Great Wall of China.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to tonight's host, Mr Kenny Smith of Torridon, The Drumossie Hotel Team, Limelight Event Services and our wonderful Hospice Belles!
“A big shout out to our incredible performers, TFX Performing Arts Academy and John B's Daughter!
“Thank you to main sponsor CARZAR Creative and Hit or Miss sponsor MGM Timber Ltd.
“Finally a huge thank you to all the local businesses who have generously supported this event with an auction or raffle prize as well as everyone who participated in this evening's auction.
“You are all AMAZING!”
