Alison Laurie of Crown Vets, Inverness who was voted Vet of the Year

A CITY vet has proved she is top dog by being crowned Vet of the Year 2011.

Alison Laurie of Crown Vets was given the homour at the Petplan Veterinary Awards – the Oscars of the veterinary profession, becoming the first woman to win the title in its twelve year history.

Alison began practising as a vet in 1983 and has been at Crown Vets since 2002, where she has been highly praised by clients and colleagues alike.

She describes her work as a truly a rewarding job and what really stood out about Alison for the independent panel of judges was her clinical excellence, exceptional ability and compassion towards customers and their pets.

Alison Andrew, Petplan’s marketing manager, explained what the awards were about:: “The Petplan Veterinary Awards are about thanking the veterinary profession for the outstanding level of care they provide to our animals. Alison Laurie, like many vets, provides an exceptional service to clients and their pets, clearly shown by how much she is loved by pets and owners alike. We are delighted to name her ‘Petplan’s Vet of the Year 2011’.”

The Petplan Veterinary Awards, recognise and celebrate staff and practices throughout the country that have delivered an exceptional level of care to the nation’s pets. A record number of over 2,800 pet owners across the UK voted for the awards, demonstrating the importance Britain places not only on their animals, but also the dedicated veterinary professionals that care for them.
