A CLASSIC car was destroyed after a blaze in Inverness in the early hours of this morning.

The damage to the MG Midget was too severe for it to be saved after the fire at Lilac Grove in the Dalneigh area of the city.

Police say the blaze, which started at around 2.44am, is unexplained.

A spokesman said: "Enquiries are ongoing at this time."

One fire crew from Inverness attended, using one hosereel jet to extinguish the fire.

It was under control by 3.12am.
