Community organisations in Inverness are being reminded that the deadline to apply for the Port of Inverness Community Fund is fast approaching – with applications closing on Wednesday.

The new fund – which is accepting applications within the areas of Ballifeary, Dalneigh, Merkinch and Park – was launched on April 1 to support small youth projects that improve the health and wellbeing of young people living in these communities.

The Trust port, run by Inverness Harbour Trust, has pledged to have a “lasting” impact on the local community with the new fund.

A spokesperson for the Port of Inverness said: “We wish to be supportive to our local communities by contributing to the wellbeing of our neighbours and hopefully, over time, we will be able to support many local causes.

“We are excited to see what the charity can do in the future, hopefully enabling us to provide a lasting positive impact.”

The Port of Inverness Community Fund is aiming to support a wide variety of projects, including the provision of new or replacement equipment, one-off costs for local community groups and non-statutory school and nursery activities.

Applications for small grants of £200 – £500 are being invited once a year, using the funding application form.

The application process is designed to be straightforward, encouraging a wide range of local groups to apply before its deadline of Wednesday April 30.

Funding decisions are made by a panel comprising individuals who live, work, or volunteer in the community, ensuring that the awards are tailored to local needs.

Successful applicants will be notified of funding outcomes by June 1, 2025.
