Nairn charity fashion show raises £4000 for repairs to St Mary’s Church
A packed fashion show raised around £4000 to support repair works on a Nairn church.
The community came together at Nairn Community and Arts Centre for a stylish night helping a good cause, with more than 160 people in attendance.
Organised by local resident Marie Delaney Cruickshank and Nairn’s Bramble’s Boutique owner, Georgina Innes, the event was held to support the repair fund for Saint Mary’s Church, which is in need of major works to tackle subsidence and damage to the sacristy’s ceiling and wall.
Ms Cruickshank said that it was a wonderful night ,with community spirit flowing in abundance.
She said: “The fashion show went so well we had to take in extra chairs to accommodate extra entries on the evening. And we even sold out of raffle tickets!
“People from anywhere in between Inverness and Fochabers came along, we had a very good time and the models, who were from a good mix of ages, all donned lovely outfits.
“We are so pleased with the result, and it’s all for a good cause!”
The money raised will go a long way to helping cover the costs of repairs needed to the church, estimated to be at least £15,000.
More fundraising events are also likely to be held to support the Academy Street church.
