Controversial artwork in Inverness faces further delay
Work on the controversial My Ness artwork has been put back until the spring it has emerged.
Highland Council announced in July that a start would be made to install the project – featuring curved walls built either side of the River Ness near Bught Park – by September.
But Inverness councillor Isabelle Mackenzie, chairwoman of an arts working group involved with the scheme, said delays due to the coronavirus pandemic and the time of year meant it was now paused.
The working group will meet later this month and a report is expected to go to the city committee in November.
"It will be on pause until the spring unfortunately," she said.
"It is still progressing."
Preparatory work involving the drilling of three bore holes to allow structural calculations to be completed took place in the summer following delays due to the pandemic.
Once that was done, the plan was to begin installing the walls in August or September which was expected to take 12 weeks.
