Nat Fraser, convicted killer of Arlene Fraser, expected to be released from prison to attend mum’s funeral
The convicted murderer of Arlene Fraser will reportedly be released from jail this week to allow him to attend his mother’s funeral in Elgin.
Nat Fraser was found guilty of killing his wife Arlene Fraser in 2003 and again at a retrial in 2012 for her 1998 death.
Arlene’s body has never been found with Fraser refusing to reveal its location.
Now, The Sunday Mail is reporting that the killer will be escorted from West Lothian’s HMP Addiewell to the funeral in Elgin on Wednesday, April 2.
He will be transported by prisoner transport firm GeoAmey and accompanied by prison guards to the service.
The 66-year-old has not been seen in public since his Edinburgh High Court appearance in 2012 but will now be allowed to say his goodbyes to his mum Ibby Fraser at her funeral, according to the paper.
He was also released from jail in 2004 so that he could attend his father Nat’s funeral in Elgin.
A social media post from William Watson Funeral Directors confirmed the news of her passing and upcoming funeral but made no mention of her son.
It reads: “Peacefully, at her home, on Saturday March 22, 2025, Ibby, aged 93 years.
“Dearly beloved wife of the late Nat, much loved mam, mother-in-law, granny and great granny.
“Funeral ceremony to which all friends are respectfully invited at William Watson Funeral Directors, Blackfriars Road, Elgin, on Wednesday April 2, at 12noon, thereafter cremation private.
“Family flowers only please.”
