Coronavirus testing centre at Inverness Campus has 'new arrival every 15 minutes'

There was a steady stream of visitors to a pop-up Covid-19 testing facility which has been set up in Inverness.

Between 9am and 5pm on Wednesday, an eyewitness estimated there was a new vehicle arriving every 10 to 15 minutes.

The drive-through unit is in a car park at Inverness College UHI and opened for its pilot phase on April 22 before going fully operational a few days later.

It is being operated by the UK government's Department of Health and Social Care and a spokesman said they did not publish the number of tests carried out for each individual site.

The tests are carried out on for NHS staff and other key workers and it operates as an appointment-only facility.

Tests are self-administered.

Previously there was a drive-through testing facility at Raigmore Hospital and a coronavirus assessment facility at the Mackenzie Centre in Culduthel Road.
