Council meeting due to take place at Nairn Community & Arts Centre
A LOCAL development plan and the health and vaccination policy for Nairn are just two of the items on the agenda for today's meeting of Nairn River Community Council at the Nairn Community & Arts Centre.
In a very full agenda members will also be discussing concerns of residents in Lochloy about the condition of a burn littered with building debris which runs through the development and there will be a proposal for the immediate removal removal of all parking notices at Harbour, Maggot, Links Cumming Street till the whole Nairn Common Good situation is investigated and properly managed locally.
The controversial voluntary 'pay for parking' scheme was introduced without consultation and local community councils have accused the local authority of using funds from the Common Good to pay for work which should be paid for from Highland Council's own budgets.
The community council is also to ask Nairn's four Highland Council members to reject the Inner Moray Firth Development Plan which locals claim is unfit for purpose because of the lack of infrastructure and no confirmation for the Nairn bypass.
The council will also be considering what action they can take on the proposed closure in 2025 of the town's highest landmark - St Ninian's Church in the town centre.
The meeting commences at 7pm and members of the public are invited to attend.
